Terms & Conditions

Last updated October 13, 2026 · Volontaire student development team · Frisco, Texas, United States

Volontaire helps you discover and organize service. Verify opportunities directly with organizations, follow their safety and age requirements, and keep private information out of shared content. Read our separate Privacy Policy.

1. Acceptance and eligibility

By accessing or using Volontaire, you agree to these Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Volontaire is intended for people age 13 and older. If you are not legally able to enter an agreement yourself, involve your parent or guardian as required by applicable law. A platform age check does not establish eligibility for any organization or replace legally required consent.

2. The platform

Volontaire is a student-built website and Android app for finding opportunities, planning projects, saving organizations and tracking personal volunteer records. Unless expressly identified otherwise, Volontaire is not the organization offering an opportunity and does not supervise your service. Personal hour logs, staff review and the Impact Passport are not official or legal proof; the relevant school, court, employer or organization decides whether and how to verify and accept them.

3. Listings and third-party organizations

Listings, contact information, availability and requirements may change, contain errors or become outdated. A listing, map result, rating or nonprofit-registration check is not a guarantee of safety, availability, suitability or accuracy. Confirm current details on the organization's official site and directly with its authorized staff.

Third-party organizations are responsible for their own conduct, policies, safety practices, services, supervision, requirements and cancellations. Volontaire does not control them. This allocation does not exclude responsibility that applicable law requires Volontaire to retain for its own acts or omissions.

4. Your responsibilities and safety

Provide accurate information, keep your sign-in credentials private, follow applicable laws and organization rules, and decide whether a role is appropriate for your age, abilities and circumstances. Confirm age eligibility, transportation, accessibility, training, background checks, guardian permission and supervision before registering or attending. Follow the organization's safety procedures and involve a trusted adult when appropriate. Do not attend a role that feels unsafe or requires qualifications you do not have. Volontaire is not an emergency service.

5. AI guidance

Optional AI tools provide text-only planning and recommendations based on available context. They can be incomplete or inaccurate and may not know current requirements. Independently verify recommendations; do not rely on AI for medical, legal, emergency or safety-critical decisions. Do not put passwords, personal addresses or other unnecessary sensitive information in prompts.

6. Optional location and privacy

Location helps find nearby organizations. Device access is optional, explained before a browser/device permission request and started only after you select Allow Location. Decline with Not Now or use the existing manual city/ZIP search. You may disable optional device location in Settings and manage permissions through your browser/device. Volontaire does not bypass permission controls or continuously track your location. See the Privacy Policy for actual storage, providers and choices.

7. Contributions and private information

You retain rights you have in original content you submit. You grant Volontaire a nonexclusive permission to store and display it only as needed to provide, review and moderate the feature you use. Share only content you have permission to share. Private account records are not automatically public contributions. Public reviews and approved project/listing contributions may be viewed by other signed-in users.

Never publicly post a student's personal contact details, home address, exact location, school schedule, health information or private service history. Provide only authorized organization contact details in organization listings. Automated screening is limited; content may be reviewed, rejected or removed to protect users. Report inaccurate or unsafe listings through the existing reporting/support tools.

8. External links

External registration, directions and information links lead to websites with their own terms, privacy practices and security. Volontaire does not control those sites. Check the destination before providing information, paying money or agreeing to requirements. A link is not an endorsement or safety certification.

9. Prohibited activities

Do not use Volontaire for illegal activity, fraud, false hour verification, impersonation, harassment, malicious uploads or links, unauthorized access, credential theft, exploitation of minors, API abuse or disruption. Do not evade access or rate limits or scrape private data, bypass technical restrictions, or collect others' personal information without lawful authority. Legitimate uses permitted by applicable law are not restricted by this section.

10. Intellectual property

Volontaire's original branding, logo, design, code and content belong to their respective owners, subject to applicable licenses. No ownership is claimed over third-party organization information, map data, open-source software or your original contributions. Respect the attribution and license terms identified in Credits and third-party notices.

11. Availability and disclaimers

To the extent permitted by law, the platform is offered “as is” and “as available,” without promises that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or appropriate for every purpose. Reasonable efforts to improve accuracy and security do not guarantee them. Nothing here excludes mandatory warranties, consumer protections or other nonwaivable rights.

12. Limits of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Volontaire and its operators are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the platform or third-party opportunities. This does not limit liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, injury where exclusion is unlawful, or any other liability that cannot legally be limited. These Terms do not establish a fixed financial cap on liability.

13. Limited indemnification

Only to the extent lawful and applicable to a user who can legally make this commitment, an adult user may be required to cover reasonable losses from a third-party claim caused by that user's fraud, intentional unlawful conduct or knowing infringement through their contributions. This does not apply to Volontaire's own misconduct or ordinary good-faith use, and requires prompt notice and a reasonable opportunity to participate in the defense. This section does not impose an indemnification obligation on minors or their guardians.

14. Restriction, termination and deletion

Access or content may be restricted for serious misuse, safety risks, legal requirements or material violations, with notice and a reasonable opportunity to contact support when feasible. You may stop using the service or request account/data deletion. Deletion is currently reviewed manually and does not erase information held independently by an organization. Applicable retention obligations and available legal rights continue to apply.

15. Changes

Changes to these Terms will be identified by an updated date. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes before they take effect and request renewed agreement when required by law. Changes will not apply retroactively to disputes without a lawful basis.

16. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Texas and applicable United States federal law, except where applicable law requires otherwise. Mandatory consumer protections and rights that cannot legally be waived remain in effect, including protections available where you live.

Any dispute must be brought before a court that has lawful jurisdiction. These Terms do not require arbitration, waive class-action rights or prevent you from using a court or remedy available under mandatory law.

17. Operator and official contact

Volontaire is developed and operated by a team of high school student developers based in Frisco, Texas, United States. “Volontaire” is the name the team uses for this project and its services; references to Volontaire, “we” or “our” refer to that student development team. The name does not represent a claim that the team is an incorporated company or registered nonprofit.

For questions about these Terms, privacy, account deletion or the platform, contact the Volontaire team at volontaire.support@gmail.com or visit our Support Center.
